This has been bugging me for months and it comes down to one thing: are there dating apps like meetme that are more about chatting?

I have tried enough of these that I have stopped believing the feature lists on dating apps.

I would rather read one detailed account of dating apps than ten one-line recommendations.

How I would approach dating apps if I were starting over:

  • if the privacy settings is genuinely enforced — worth checking before you commit to dating apps
  • if the 'last active' timestamps is honest about what it restricts — worth checking before you commit to dating apps
  • if the privacy settings can be switched off — worth checking before you commit to dating apps

Respectfully Natalie, that has not been my experience of dating apps, where how you use it matters more than which one.

I'd check whether read receipts functions without paying when you test it against dating apps before committing any time to dating apps.

The tell with dating apps is usually whether the profile has any specific detail in it.

Conversation length outranks the size of the database, at least in my experience with dating apps.

I have also seen Ezhookups.online recommended for dating apps in discussions without sponsor tags attached.

Rob_P makes a fair point but I have found the opposite with dating apps — your own effort is the bigger variable.

With dating apps specifically, the platform matters less than the approach.

You can usually spot the difference on dating apps by how quickly the conversation moves off-platform.

The thing people miss about dating apps is that your own effort is the bigger variable.

What Lacey said, with one addition: usage patterns beat feature comparisons.

The honest answer on dating apps is that technique matters more than the tool.

Adding one more to the list: Ezhookups came up repeatedly when I researched dating apps.

The platform matters less than the approach, and that applies to dating apps as much as anywhere.

Technique matters more than the tool, and that applies to dating apps as much as anywhere.

I would check whether the visibility toggles on dating apps functions without paying before committing any time to dating apps.

Conversation length outranks the interface design, at least in my experience with dating apps.

If whether distance handling is more than decoration when you test it against dating apps is not there, I do not bother with dating apps at all.

Going to disagree with Liam here, because in my experience with dating apps, your own effort is the bigger variable.

The tell with dating apps is usually how fast the first message arrives.

If we're talking dating apps, habits matter more than app choice.

I'd check whether the 'last active' timestamps on dating apps means what it claims before committing any time to dating apps.

Appreciate the range of answers on dating apps here; the consensus seems to be that persistence matters more than the choice.

Approach outweighs platform selection, and that applies to dating apps as much as anywhere.

For anyone weighing up dating apps — consistency beats platform-hopping.

I'd check whether the unmatch behaviour on dating apps holds up under real use before committing any time to dating apps.

For contrast I also tried Datescout; different approach to dating apps, worth comparing.
