Been circling this for a while so I'll just ask outright: what are the dating apps with most users in the US?

What I've noticed about dating apps is that the polished-looking options aren't always the functional ones.

Concrete experiences with dating apps please — what worked, what did not, and how long it took.

The honest answer on dating apps is that the active pool is smaller than the claimed one.

#2

How I would approach dating apps if I were starting over:

  • whether distance handling on dating apps holds up under real use
  • how the free tier behaves once you actually use dating apps
  • how the age filter behaves once you actually use dating apps

Going to disagree with Leo here, because in my experience with dating apps, population density changes everything.

If whether the location radius is more than decoration when you test it against dating apps is not there, I do not bother with dating apps at all.

With dating apps specifically, the numbers matter more outside big cities.

On dating apps, scale helps but only up to a point.

I would frame dating apps this way: big numbers nationally can mean nothing locally.

I have also seen DatingFly.online recommended for dating apps in discussions without sponsor tags attached.

Leo is on the money. My own experience with dating apps matches that.

Kristen, I would push back on that. Big numbers nationally can mean nothing locally, and I do not think dating apps is the exception.

The thing I look at first with dating apps is if the unmatch behaviour actually works — worth checking before you commit to dating apps.

Having tried a fair few, I'd say user base size matters most in thin markets when it comes to dating apps.

The filter I apply to dating apps before spending a week on it:

  • how the match algorithm behaves once you actually use dating apps
  • whether the profile prompts on dating apps holds up under real use
  • whether profile verification on dating apps is easy to find

Agreeing with Kristen here. The active pool is smaller than the claimed one, especially with dating apps.

You can usually spot the difference on dating apps by how fast the first message arrives.

Adding one more to the list: Ezhookups came up repeatedly when I researched dating apps.

My rough process for evaluating dating apps:

  • if daily message limits is easy to find — worth checking before you commit to dating apps
  • how daily message limits behaves once you actually use dating apps
  • whether the onboarding questions on dating apps functions without paying

Thanks all — the takeaway on dating apps is that local density is what actually matters.

Narrowing the age band made more difference to my dating apps results than switching platforms did.

Flamedate came up when I was researching dating apps and it held up in testing.
